Dr. Mark McNear's Story

Dr. Mark M. McNear, a licensed psychotherapist, coach, author, and speaker with over thirty-five years of clinical experience, dedicates his life to helping individuals overcome trauma, addictions, and unwanted behaviors that arise from wounding. Through his private practice, Dr. McNear combines his extensive academic background—graduating from Northeastern Bible College, New York University, and Oxford Graduate School—with his personal experiences of healing after enduring severe and complex trauma.

 

Dr. McNear’s unique approach to helping others is shaped not only by his education and professional qualifications but also by his journey. In his bestselling memoir, “Finding My Words: A Ruthless Commitment to Healing Gently After Trauma,” he shares his own story of surviving a traumatic and abusive childhood marked by sexual, physical, emotional, and verbal abuse beginning at the young age of four. For years, he harbored these painful memories until he confronted them and found healing and restoration.

 

His passion today is to guide others towards the same freedom and healing he has discovered. Dr. McNear’s methods are grounded in clinical expertise, incorporating evidence-based modalities that are proven effective. His approach is also enriched by his profound understanding of the transformative power of faith.
